Welcome to Guru Gobind Singh Marg
Prominent Landmark Enroute - Dashmesh Latthan

Dashmesh Latthan

An important aspect of Guru Gobind Singh Marg was Dashmesh Latthan (Prominent Landmarks). Marg committee had discussion on the subject in its innumerable meetings. It was very clear from the very beginning that the Latth (Landmark) should be an ideal replica of Guruji's principles but decision about its form and the places where these should be installed was not an easy task. Every place, which has the seal of Guru Gobind Singh ji, is a sacred place for his disciples. So after many discussions, the form and nature of Dasmesh latth was decided that Latth should be pentagonal. Dholpur's marble will be used for its Construction. On its four sides, hymns of Guru Gobind Singh would be inscribed in four languages i.e. Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu and English and its fifth side will present the history of the said place. This Latth will be constructed on equal length of platforms. This platform will have five stairs of 2'-6" height. First stair's length will be 24 feet and upper or fifth stair's length will be 18 feet. There will be a pillar in its center whose length horizontically will be of 4 feet and height will be 3 feet. On this 9'-9" Latth of vertical length will be constructed in the form of salutation. A 10" khanda (Khalsa Symbol) of steel will adorn its top.

Committee was certain that this pentagon Latth with Guru Gobind Singh's hymns inscribed on its four sides in four different languages and history of the place on fifth side with Khanda; to adorn the its top, will be considered a symbol of Guruji's high principles.
